Environmental Sanitation Workshop - Harare

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:In this workshop, participants learn to effectively facilitate and adopt lesson on WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene). They discuss what learner’s needs, practice creating a safe learning environment, motivating learners, and ensuring the information is relevant and appropriate. Through lessons and practical experience, participants also learn to formulate effective questions, respond to learners, and manage challenging training situations. Introduction to WASH or equivalent experience is a prerequisite for this workshop. Delivering Effective WASH Training (DEWT) is a prerequisite for the workshop creating effective WASH training.OBJECTIVES:The main objective of this training is to- To enhance knowledge and technic to facilitate WASH training effectively.- To create safe learning environment for effective WASH training- To enhance the skills on effective delivery of WASH training- To practice adapting lesson plans for effective WASH training.METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:This participatory style workshop includes theory, classroom exercises, demonstrations, and varied discussion types to share experiences.There will be opportunities for participants to prepare and practice training techniques as part of the workshop.Active participation in all learning activities is highly encouraged.CONTENT:The following is a list of the topics to be covered in the Workshop.- The qualities of an effective trainer- Safe learning environments- Motivation- The four things learners need- Active learning- Lesson planning and adapting lessons- Effective questioning and think time- Responding to participants- Presentation skills- Giving clear instructions- Overcoming barriers to participation- Action planning

Este taller cubre cuatro temas principales: Agua potable y TANDAS, El método de barreras múltiples, Opciones de tecnologías TANDAS y Selección de opciones.Los participantes comienzan el taller explorando por qué el agua potable es importante, su idefinición y cómo TANDAS puede apoyar a reducir las brechas de acceso a agua segura. Luego, los participantes practicarán el Método de barreras múltiples (tecnologías y comportamientos) que se pueden usar para proteger el agua desde la fuente hasta el vaso del usuario.Con esta comprensión de los riesgos y las barreras, los participantes toman una visión práctica de las opciones de sedimentación, filtración, desinfección y almacenamiento seguro del agua de consumo. Evalúan los beneficios y las limitaciones de varias opciones y describen cuán adecuados pueden ser los métodos de tratamiento del agua y almacenamiento seguro combinados con el método de barreras múltiples (Opciones de TANDAS). Climate Resilient Water Safety Plan (CR-WSP)

This package focuses on building climate resilience water safety plan in water and sanitation supply schemes. Accessibility of water along with water quality is a major concern in current scenario. Focusing on it, water being supplied by water and sanitation supply schemes is also a major concern. With the variance in climate which have a huge impact in the water quality and accessibility, the package focuses on training the trainer on the topic to facilitate and develop the required water safety plan in the community.OBJECTIVESUpon completion of the workshop participants will be able to:- To enhance knowledge on Climate resilience Water Safety Plan- To capacitate the participants to facilitate training on C-WSP- To facilitate on creating draft C-WSP of Water and Sanitation Supply SchemeIn the package, participants will be able to gain knowledge and information on 'water safety plan' along with the climate resilience perspective. To this, participants will be demonstrating and practicing in steps of water safety plan including a field visit and prepare a draft of water safety plan of thus visited water and sanitation supply scheme.METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONThis participatory style workshop includes theory, classroom exercises, open discussion, demonstrations, simulation, and hands-on practice in the workshop along with the field visit of a water and sanitation supply scheme.
