This course will introduce you to the components of a 'typical' water quality field test kit, and get you started on how to use the equipment. Household Water Treatment and Safe storage (HWTS) is extremely effective at ensuring individuals, families and communities are able to access safe drinking water. It is a critical approach to mitigating unnecessary illness. By the end of this workshop, you will have the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions about selecting appropriate HWTS options as well as how to implement and plan HWTS initiatives.What this training offersThis workshop offers an introduction to types of water sources and contamination, the water treatment process and household water treatment and safe storage options. It also addresses which criteria to consider when looking at different options within HWTS. You will have the opportunity to practice using the criteria to select locally appropriate treatment options under the multi-barrier approach for safe water. Implementation strategies and project planning steps for successful projects are also discussed. En cualquier proyecto o iniciativa de ASH, se requiere transferir conocimientos y/o habilidades a los usuarios, a contrapartes y a otros miembros de nuestras propias instituciones sobre la planificación y ejecución del proyecto, uso y mantenimiento de tecnologías, y promoción de higiene. Llevar a cabo estas formaciones parece una tarea sencilla, pero no lo es. Este taller ofrece e impulsa a aquellas personas encargadas de dar formaciones, a adquirir herramientas y habilidades para transmitir estos conocimientos y habilidades de una manera efectiva, y adaptadas a las necesidades específicas de las audiencias meta. Es una capacitación teórico-práctica que le permitirá practicar sus habilidades de facilitación, recibir retroalimentación y mejorar los programas educativos de su organización.
In this introductory level workshop, participants will gain an overall understanding of the issues and best practices for on-site environmental sanitation management in communities.The workshop explores the relationship between environmental sanitation, disease transmission and health addressing technical topics such as human excreta management including different latrine designs; solid waste management; and domestic wastewater management while considering the effects of climate change on sanitation. Aspects of hygiene, such as handwashing will also be discussed.Participants will discuss behaviour change and sanitation promotion to create demand for environmental sanitation and will learn to perform an environmental sanitation inspection and/or an environmental sanitation walk.
You have knowledge in WASH but are you able to effectively train others on WASH? By the end of this workshop, you will have the knowledge and tools you need to be an effective facilitator of WASH trainings.What this training offersThis workshop gives you the knowledge and skills you need to effectively facilitate and adapt lessons on WASH. During this workshop, you build core skills in the areas of communication, instruction and facilitation. You are also exposed to basic concepts in lesson design.
